Kent Drake-Deese,
Director of Residential Life and Housing Services
  • Education: BA from St. Lawrence University - Philosophy, MEd from St. Lawrence University - Educational Administration
  • Joined KSC Res Life team: 2006
  • Job Responsibilities: Kent provides overall supervision for all departmental functions including residential education, housing operations, facilities operations and budgeting. Kent directly supervises the Associate/Assistant Directors and Information Technology Specialist.
  • Fun Fact: Kent and his wife, Jennifer delivered their youngest son at home (unplanned).
Jana Jacobson,
Assistant Director for Residential Life Educational Services
  • Education: BA from University of Massachusetts Amherst, Psychology, MA from New York University - Individualized Study focused in Educational Administration
  • Joined KSC Res Life team: 2007
  • Job Responsibilities: Jana oversees the residential program with a primary focus on residential education. She is responsible for the direct supervision of the Coordinator for the First-Year Residential Experience and the Residence Directors in upper-class areas and has indirect supervision of the first-year Residence Directors and all of the Resident Assistant staff. In addition, she advises the Residence Hall Organization and NRHH chapter and establishes the departmental focus on student and staff development.
  • Fun Fact: Jana has visited 13 countries in Europe and loves to travel.
Jim Carley,
Associate Director for Facilities & Housing Operations
  • Education: BS from Penn State - Human Development, MEd Penn State - Counselor Education/Student Personnel Administration
  • Joined KSC Res Life team: 1990
  • Job Responsibilities: Jim oversees the facilities, maintenance, and custodial operations for all of the residential living areas on campus, totaling over 800,000 square feet of space. He is also responsible for budget development and management, supervising the summer conference program, maintaining the residential life web page and managing the vendor contracts for the department.
  • Fun Fact: When he retires, Jim would love to be able to afford to live in Chicago.
Mandy Martin,
Assistant Director for Housing Operations
  • Education: BA in Sociology from College of Wooster (Wooster, Ohio), EdM from Boston University in Policy, Planning and Administration with a concentration in Higher Education Administration.
  • Joined KSC Res Life team: 2008
  • Job Responsibilities: First year room assignments, returning student room selection, disability accommodations and room changes.
  • Fun Fact: An avid Red Sox fan, Mandy’s dream vacation is to visit every baseball park in the United States.
Nate Gordon,
Coordinator for the First-Year Residential Experience
  • Education: BS from the University of Maine at Farmington - Secondary Education English, MEd from the University of Maine - Higher Education.
  • Joined KSC Res Life team: 2006
  • Job Responsibilities: Nate is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the First-Year Residential Experience. He directly supervises the Residence Directors in the first-year halls and the indirect supervision of their Resident Assistants.
  • Fun Fact: Nate enjoys traveling and has ambitions to do a World Cruise someday.
