The Residential Life and Housing Office is now accepting Living/Learning Community proposals in Pondside III for the 2011-2012 academic year. The proposal is open to all interested faculty, staff and students who would like to develop a community focused on a particular discipline, theme or interest designed to enhance the college experience of all members of the Keene State College community.

All proposals must include the name of a faculty or staff person who is willing to accept the role of advisor to the group. Faculty and staff may serve as their own community advisor, but all student proposals must identify a faculty or staff advisor.

Please be aware of the following timeline that will govern this process:

Dec. 6 & 7	Information Session – Pondside III Lobby at 12:30 p.m.
Dec. 13	Learning Community proposals due by 8:00 a.m.
Dec. 14	Proposal responses issued (approved Learning Communities posted on Residence Life website). Academic Year 2011-2012 option activated on application at 6:00 p.m.
January 31	Individual LLC applications due by 8:00 a.m.
February 14	LLC applicants notified of status.
February 17	Accepted LLC students required to confirm acceptance.
February 22	LLC suite assignments published.
February 28	Final LLC room assignments due to RD Carissa Barillaro by 8:00 a.m.

If you would like to submit a proposal for a 2011-2012 Living/Learning Community
(FYI: Even those that exist in 2010-2011 must submit a proposal for 2011-2012) then please read the following:

Proposal Process:

1. Please completely and accurately provide the following information in a Word document:


1. Student Name
2. Current Class Year
3. Phone Number (best number for contacting you)
4. KSC email address
5. Name of your proposed LLC
6. A thorough, written overview of your LLC concept
7. Identify the 3 primary goals for your LLC
8. Describe a program your LLC would host that addresses both diversity and the focus of your LLC
9. Advisor's Name
10. Advisor's email


2. Send the completed proposal to your advisor to review. The email subject line should read: LLC Proposal - (Proposed Community Name)
3. The advisor will need to review the proposal and then submit it to Carissa Barillaro (cbarillaro@keene.edu) along with his/her approval.
4. Proposals will not be accepted unless submitted by an advisor, so make sure you complete it early enough so they have plenty of time to review & submit!
