The new KSC Surplus Program

The Keene State College Purchasing Office is pleased to announce a new Surplus Program business model. We have researched a number of cost-effective alternatives and have decided upon a new model that we are very excited about.

Please join us the second (2nd) Saturday of every month for our Surplus Store sales from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates:

2006: September 9, October 14, November 11, December 16,
2007: January 13, February 10, March 10, April 14, May 12, June 9

Computer Systems and Associated Peripherals

The marketplace is flooded with used computer systems. You can buy new systems for as low as $500.00. It is not cost-effective for Keene State College to continue selling used computers, so we are in the process of contracting with a third-party vendor to handle all our surplus computer system needs.

This firm will provide the College with assurances that all information from each KSC hard drive is overwritten and/or washed per U.S. Defense Department guidelines. This assurance eliminates the potential liability of sensitive data exposure for the institution. This new program also guarantees that all working systems will be sold via a reseller market. All non-working systems will be disposed of per EPA guidelines. Our new solution streamlines the processing of this critical commodity, eases the workload on IT, Grounds and Purchasing and provides us with protection from potential data liability issues. A winning combination for all!

Furniture and Non-computer System Items

The surplus house will be open the second Saturday of every Month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the sale of furniture and non-computer system related items. The store will be set up as a walk-in retail business. All items will be priced and ready for sale.

Special surplus sales that result from our usual summer construction will be announced on our web site.

We appreciate your patience over these past few months as we reorganized our program. Please contact us at (603) 358-2493 if you have any questions.

We hope to see you at the store.

While we will continue to advertise our program via our web site at www.keene.edu/purchasing. The new program eliminates the need for formal written bids. It is a first-come/first-served program, highlighting sales of items to school districts, non-profit agencies and the public.
