spacer spacer Keene State College Launches Safety and Emergency Management Certificate Program

KEENE, N.H. 8/3/05 - Professionals in healthcare, education, law enforcement, business, and industry can now earn a Safety and Emergency Management Certificate offered by Keene State College.

This program is tailored to working professionals by combining online learning with three class meetings over 10 weeks. Required courses can be completed in one year, and the full certificate may be earned in 18 months. While working towards this certificate, the student is being prepared for safety and emergency management positions. In addition to five required courses, the student can elect three courses that allow further specialization in safety or emergency management.

The Safety and Emergency Management Certificate courses build on one's present knowledge with activities and projects adapted to prior experience and education.

Upon satisfactory completion of the certificate, the student will have earned 24 college credits that may be applied toward a degree from Keene State's Department of Technology, Design and Safety.

Interested students can start right away on earning the Safety and Emergency Management Certificate with the first course, TDS 181 Safety Awareness, scheduled Aug. 19 to Oct. 28. The first class meets from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at the Keene State College Safety Center, conveniently located at the Manchester (N.H.) Airport. This course explains safety and emergency management basics. During the first class, students will meet their instructor and learn to use Keene State's web-based learning platform, Blackboard. During the ten-week course, they will work primarily online with two additional classroom sessions held on Fridays, Sept. 30 and Oct. 28, at the KSC Safety Center.

Tuition and fees for the TDS 181 Safety Awareness course are $768 for New Hampshire residents and $840 for out-of-state residents. Payment is due by Aug. 26, a week after the course starts.
