KEENE, N.H. 11/8/04 - Local residents will have the chance to sample food from area restaurants at the third annual "A Taste of Keene," to be held on Sunday, Nov. 14,
11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Colony Mill Marketplace.

"A Taste of Keene," sponsored by C&S Wholesale Grocers and the Colony Mill Marketplace, is a fundraiser for the Keene State College Community Service Nutrition Scholarship and the local Meals on Wheels program. Faculty members and students of Keene State's Departments of Health Science and Computer Science, the Office of Advancement, the Monadnock Shopper News, and Home Health Hospice and Community Service (HCS) are organizing the event. Last year more 3,500 people attended and raised approximately $10,000 for the beneficiaries.

This year more than 18 restaurants will offer a wide variety of international and American fare at the event, said Karrie Kalich, an instructor in health science at KSC. "A Taste of Keene" cookbook will make its debut at the event complete with recipes from participating restaurants and from former Keene restaurants, such as Tolman's Table, Square Meals, The Crystal, and Henry David's. The cookbook will sell for $12. There will also be a Kid's Korner, with healthy snacks and an interactive nutrition display for children organized by the Keene State College Student Dietetic Association.

Among restaurants confirming their participation are 176 Main Restaurant, Colorado Steak House, Keene Fresh Salad Company, Elm City Restaurant and Brewing Company, Fritz Belgian Fries, Starbucks, Del Rossi's Trattoria, Kristin's Bakery, Luca's Mediterranean Café, Margarita's, Panera Bread, Rynborn Restaurant and Blues Club, E.F. Lane/Salmon Chase American Bistro, Sodexho Catering, The Works Deli and Caterers, and Tony Clamato's Ristorante.

Tokens will be sold at the event to exchange for food samples, which will range in price from $1 to $3. Gift raffle tickets will be available to support the proceeds.
