Mission of the PCSW

The President's Commission on the Status of Women is an institutional advisory committee consisting of faculty, staff, and students appointed by the President to improve the quality of life for women on this campus. Our primary purpose is to advise the President on the campus climate for women and to improve this environment by eradicating sexism, challenging stereotypes, and working for equality. To achieve these goals we strive to educate the campus community, to increase awareness of women's issues, and to act as advocates for women. The PCSW seeks to support and empower women, respect and value their work, celebrate their accomplishments, provide role models and mentors, and create a supportive campus network. We are continually vigilant in our efforts to work together to create a campus climate of respect and equality for all.

The co-chairs are Deborah Black and Mary-Ellen Fortini.
