Objective/Purpose:
- to involve students in a problem solving process

Materials: none

Procedure:
1. Tell the students you have just heard that beginning in the year 2002 every student in the school will be required to have 4 periods of Physical Education every week.
2. The School Board needs some ideas and wants to hear from the students how to provide the Physical Education periods. There will not be any state money available to build gymnasiums.
3. Write down all of the student's ideas
4. Through a process of elimination reduce the list to a small number
5. Have each student write which solution they support and give three reasons why.
6. Have students verbally support their choice in a small group, or with the class, or with students from another class.
7. Encourage students to ask and respond to questions.

Evaluation/Assessment:
Could the students support valid suggestions?
