Professional Activities

On February 24 and 25, Dr. Patricia Pedroza Gonzalez participated on a jury in a contest of mathematics for 6 and 7 year old children. She also conducted a seminar on Gender, Mathematics and Pedagogy for 40 teachers of elementary schools. These activities were the first of series of workshops she will conduct as part of her Spring 2017 sabbatical project at Morelia, Michoacan-Mexico where she is working with the Center for Teaching and Research of Mathematics- CIEM.

Dr. Glenn Geiser-Getz, associate provost, has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Conference of Academic Deans (ACAD). The mission of ACAD is “to provide academic leaders who share a commitment to student learning and to the ideals of liberal education with networking and professional development opportunities and to support them in their work as educational leaders.” The nonprofit organization was established in 1945 to serve deans, provosts, academic vice presidents, assistant and associate deans, and other academic leaders across the country. The organization provides a variety of resources to its constituents including professional development workshops and conferences, an online career center, and a variety of print publications related to work in higher education. As a board member, Dr. Geiser-Getz will help guide the organization’s work during the coming years.
