KSC Athletics Hosts Public Safety and Emergency Responders Night

From Ron Butcher, Athletics, and Amanda Guthorn, Campus Safety:

On Wednesday, January 13th, Keene State College Athletics and Campus Safety hosted the first Public Safety and Emergency Responders Night at the men’s basketball game at Spaulding Gym. The crowd was welcomed by Director of Campus Safety Amanda Guthorn commenting, “You are more than cops, EMTs and firefighters: you are social workers, teachers, counselors, nurses, coaches, cheerleaders, problem-solvers, proxy parents, and caretakers for everyone in your communities. You are the visual reassurance that everything will be OK because you are there.”

Retired Keene Police Officer Joe Willis sang the National Anthem and, ironically, the planned presentation of the colors by the Keene Fire Department Honor Guard was thwarted by a last-minute emergency call. Over 30 local public safety and emergency responders and their families attended the event and participated in half-time competitions.

Additional theme games will be held on Saturday, January 30 (KSC faculty and staff) and Tuesday, February 2 (Armed Forces Night). Check the Athletics website for game times.
