Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
The Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Athletic Training (JRC-AT) was incorporated in Texas in October 1991 and was a Committee on Accreditation under the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP). Effective June 30, 2006, the JRC-AT became independent from CAAHEP and changed its name to the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The CAATE is the agency responsible for the accreditation of 360 professional (entry-level) Athletic Training educational programs. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), cooperate to sponsor the CAATE and to collaboratively develop the Standards for Entry-Level Athletic Training Educational Programs.
Keene State College Athletic Training program first started accreditation with CAATE in 1999, and earned full accreditation through the agency's last visit in 2010. The next visit is 2020.
