The Universite Rennes 2 Haute-Bretagne is located in the capital of Brittany. The universite is a dynamic institution consisting of three campuses and five teaching and research facilities. The campus is located just 20 minutes from downtown. The city of Rennes, considered a university centre, is located two hours west of Paris by TGV (high speed train), and has been voted one of the best cities in France to live in for its quality of life. The 15th century half-timber houses and cobbled streets that managed to survive the devastating fire of 1720 offer an interesting contrast to the granite buildings, broad avenues, and spacious squares which were built in the classic style of the 18th and 19th centuries. Students have the option of enrolling in the CIREFE language program which offers intensive French language instruction for non-native speakers at the intermediate and advanced levels, or enrolling in regular college courses taught in French. Also available is a short intensive language “prep” course for students enrolling in regular French-taught courses.
