Pontifica Universidad Catolica del Ecuador

Location: Quito, Ecuador

Size: 15,000 students

Semester Dates: Fall Semester: Mid-August through mid-December Spring Semester: Mid-January through mid-May

Description: Pontifica Universidad Catolica del Ecuador (PUCE) is one of Ecuador’s most highly regarded institutions of higher learning. The campus is centrally located in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. Quito is a bustling city where cobbled streets and colonial architecture blend with contemporary restaurants, shops, cafés, museums, and galleries.

PUCE is an ideal place to improve your language skills and learn about Ecuadorian culture. Explore lush rainforests, relax at PUCE’s own beach resort, bargain at the Indian markets, take a day trip to La Mitad del Mundo (“the middle of the world”), tour the Galapagos Islands, and enjoy the overall excitement of daily city life. Sign up for the intensive Spanish language program. All field trips are free of charge; meanwhile, you pay nearly the same tuition, room, and board as you would a semester at KSC!

Accommodation Type: Homestay with an Ecuadorian host family

Language of Instruction: Spanish

Special Considerations: This is a “great value” program, meaning students pay nearly the same tuition, room, and board as a semester at KSC; any level of Spanish speaker may apply; this language program is approved for Spanish majors.
