Description:
The Galapagos Institute for the Arts and Sciences (GAIAS), a world-class academic and research institute, is located in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the capital city of Galapagos Archipelago, on the island of San Cristobal. The campus, which is situated beautifully on a site overlooking the bay at Playa Mann, is approximately a seven minute walk from the downtown area which includes cafés, restaurants, and souvenir shops. The Galapagos Islands, one of the most renowned oceanic archipelagos in the eastern pacific, remain one of the most pristine places on Earth. Here, wildlife lives above and below the sea. Most of the plants and animals here are unique to the Galapagos. At GAIAS, students can appreciate this amazing array of biodiversity on the many field trips while hiking, horseback riding, and snorkeling. The hands-on learning opportunities include GAIAS's own on-site SCUBA school and learning to sail on the GAIAS sailboat.
