The Equinox wins big in New Hampshire Press Association awards

Keene State College’s student newspaper, The Equinox, has added ten New Hampshire Press Association (NHPA) awards to its 12 national Society of Collegiate Journalists’ awards for its 2012 work.

The Equinox will receive the following collegiate division awards for 2012-13 work at NHPA’s annual dinner, October 18, 2013.

  • Best website: First Place
  • Best use of social media: First Place
  • Best news story: First Place for Karina Barriga Albring’s “Let’s talk about sex offenses”
  • Best news story: Second Place for Whitney Cyr’s “Bearcat meets community”
  • Best news story: Third Place for Zach Pearson’s “City of Keene would not extend last call”
  • Best opinion/commentary piece: First Place for Zach Pearson’s “More than just a game”
  • Best opinion/commentary piece: Second Place for “From this tragedy will come hope and healing” (staff piece)
  • Best opinion/commentary piece: Third Place for Hannah Walker’s “Creating the perfect ‘semi-adults’”
  • Best sports photo: First Place for Chris Palermo, “KSC Men’s Soccer team shows how to win”
  • Second Place for Chris Palermo, “One KSC athlete’s personality shines on the field”
