Please join us on September 5, from 4-7 p.m., for the first opening reception of the year at the Carroll House Gallery, the teaching gallery of the Art Department.

The Image and The Word, an exhibition of works by regional artist Bruce Blanchette are collage based pieces that focus on a series of 100 Dada-like poems created from words extracted and carefully arranged by the artist over the course of 10 years from Newsweek magazine news stories. Working with a digital printer he has recently been able to alter the scale and visual presentation of the original pieces to become more sculptural within the Carroll House Gallery.

Blanchette received his MFA in Sculpture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He previously taught at Keene State College from 1989-1994, founded Gemini Graphics, a commercial screenprinting company in Keene, and worked as a designer for Smiths Medical ASD in Keene. Recently his work has been exhibited at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, Studio 8 in Walpole, NH, and will be included at an upcoming exhibit at the Vermont Center for Contemporary Art.

The exhibition will run from September 5 - 28. The gallery is open Wednesday – Saturday from noon - 5 p.m.
