Giving Tuesday – December 1, 2015 – is here, and it’s your chance to make a big difference by contributing alongside your fellow Keene State College supporters.

Giving Tuesday is a global day to celebrate generosity and to give. Keene State is taking part for the third year in a row. “We’re gearing up to make a huge splash today with donations large and small,” says Lindsay Taflas, acting director of annual giving. “We hope everyone will show their pride and make a donation to make a difference in students’ lives.

This year, your contribution will help to bring in $3,000 pledged by a 1967 alumnus – if at least 300 alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends make donations of $5 or more by midnight. All the donations will go toward scholarship and financial aid.

This is a great opportunity to help our students and make a positive impact on Keene State College. Last year on Giving Tuesday, we received donations from 325 people totaling $26,733.22 – all within 24 hours, and all to help our students.

Today’s donors may contribute to the KSC Fund or give to one of 500 designated funds. Your contribution can help students understand the world by studying abroad, help future teachers or nurses go on to make a difference in other people’s lives, or help undergraduates gain valuable experience through internships, field experience, and working with faculty on research projects.

Donate at least $5 today, and you can be part of the Giving Tuesday wave. Please consider a gift to the KSC Fund, which supports scholarships and financial aid, or check out the 500-plus funds that you can support with your donation.

Why give? It makes a huge difference to students. “I don’t think I’d be able to go to Keene without the scholarship aid that I got,” says Rachel Harmon ’17, an elementary education and sociology major who works two jobs to help cover costs.

Without the scholarships and financial aid she’s received, says Morris-August Honors Program student Emily Brochu ’16, “I would not be here. Period. I owe my entire college education to financial help. I would tell donors that they changed my life. They are the reason I am able to meet the people I’ve met, grow as a young adult, grow as who I am, have the experiences I’ve had. Because of donors I was able to travel to Nepal for two weeks. I’ve done the most life-changing things. I’m able to follow my dreams because of them. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”
