Keene State College Marks 50 Years Since Jonathan Daniels Assassination with Exhibit Honoring Social Justice Leaders

Public Invited to Interact With Artifacts from Lives and Works of Daniels, Granny D and Rev. John Crocker, Jr.

Keene State College will exhibit photos, video, text and other items from the lives and works of Jonathan Daniels, Granny D and Rev. John Crocker, Jr. in a multimedia dedication titled “Courage & Fortitude: Images of Jonathan Daniels and Doris ‘Granny D’ Haddock from the New Hampshire Social Justice Collection”. The public is invited to join a reception on August 19 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., one day before the 50-year mark of Jonathan Daniels’ assassination. The exhibit and reception are open to the public, and will be held in the College’s Mason Library.

“We are incredibly fortunate to be able to offer many compelling artifacts from three historic social justice leaders. As the library of a public institution, it is our honor and responsibility to share our collection with the public, and we are thrilled,” said Keene State College Mason Library Dean, Celia Rabinowitz. “Visitors will encounter a truly engaging multimedia exhibit. I am confident that visitors of this exhibit will leave the campus deeply impacted.”

Mason Library staff worked closely with the Jonathan Daniels 50th Anniversary Committee and Promoting Active Civil Engagement (PACE) to make the exhibit powerful and educational for the public.
