The expression “we can make beautiful music together” probably was never truer than when Keene State faculty, staff, student, and local community musicians come together to perform with The Keene Chorale. Beyond the beauty they present to the rest of the community, the connection reaches even deeper, uniting folks from campus with those from the greater community. Practicing for a performance creates a common bond among all participants that transcends the normal limitations of age and address and, we hope, leads to deeper understanding all around.

In early May, the Chorale, in its 36th season, performed Haydn’s “Missa in Angustiis” (Lord Nelson Mass) and Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna” for its spring concert at St. Bernard’s Church in Keene. The choir, led by interim director and Associate Professor of Music Sandra Howard, was joined by an orchestra and solo vocal quartet.

This semester, there were approximately 50 non-KSC and 10 KSC singers in the choir, creating a great opportunity for the musicians to share their talents and aspirations. If you missed the spring concert, stay tuned—there’s lots more to come!
