Remember that teacher who said just the right thing to you at the right time? Or the one who awoke a life-long passion within you? Or the one whose high standards set goals you would expect of yourself for the rest of your life?

Most of us can look back on that one teacher who really made a difference, and now’s the time to give that person the recognition he or she deserves. The KSC Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for the 2015 Distinguished Teacher Award, which recognizes excellence in teaching at Keene State College, based upon the following criteria:

  • excellence in classroom teaching,
  • encouragement of independent thinking,
  • rapport with students in and out of the classroom,
  • and effective student advising.

The Deadline is March 20

All nominees must be full-time, tenure-track faculty who have taught a minimum of three years at Keene State College and demonstrate continuing excellence in teaching. You’re welcome to nominate someone who’s been nominated but hasn’t received the award yet, but please don’t nominate someone who’s already a recipient. Here’s the list.

If you have previously led the submission of a nominee, you may send a letter to re-activate a previous submission with supplemental current documentation. This is a team effort, so you’ll need letters from students, alumni, and campus colleagues. Download the Distinguished Teacher Nomination Form.

Please collect documentation and letters of support and submit to the Alumni & Parent Relations Office, Barry Alumni House (in the Alumni Center on Main Street) by 4 p.m. March 20, 2015. In recognition for their achievement, each honoree receives a plaque, an honorarium, and their portrait is included among previous recipients in the Mason Library. Additional duties may include presentations and/or speaking engagements.

The President’s office will notify the recipient in July, and the news will be shared with the campus community during the Opening Day program in August.
