Three Keene State staff members were added to the Union Leader’s 2015 “40 Under 40” list, an annual selection recognizing 40 New Hampshire individuals who are under 40 years of age and who contribute significantly to their field, community, or to the state, and show the potential to continue to do so in the future.

Dr. Emily Porschitz, assistant professor of Management, was selected for her positive impact on young professionals through her advocacy and professional activities that cultivate young talent in the state. Her work encourages young professional people to stay in New Hampshire, which is critical to meet the state’s growing need for a qualified and effective workforce.

Laura Mielke, assistant director of Upward Bound, was selected for the difference she makes preparing students for success in high school and enrollment in college. Through the Federally funded Upward Bound program, Mielke actively educates New Hampshire’s high school students to understand that college is a possibility for all and that resources are available. She collaborates with school counselors and faculty to help with college preparation and the needs of low-income students, and she advocates for Federal funding for programs that assist underserved students.

Rich Grogan, director of the Small Business Development Center was recognized for his work in the small business community, helping to build New Hampshire’s economy, one small business at a time. Grogan helps small businesses in a variety of ways, from marketing to financial advice. He listens closely to his clients and delivers the help they need. He also is actively engaged in community outreach.
