Guitar music from around the world comes to Keene.

The Keene State College Guitar Orchestra and the Global Engagement Ecuador Ensemble present "Global Crosscurrents". The concert, directed by Dr. Jose Lezcano features works from around the globe, including Japan, Europe, and the United States.

The Global Engagement Ecuador Ensemble – 11 honors students who will be travelling to Quito as part of their course, Music, History, and Culture of the Andes - will perform folk music for panpipes, guitars, charangos, and folkloric percussion.

Other featured works include Shingo Fuji's Air, a colorful representation of Japanese music & culture; Celso Machado's two pieces for guitar quartet that represent Northeast rural Brazil; Horo , Atanas Ourkouzounov's exciting and rhythmically challenging work for three guitars; and Scott Joplin's classic gem of early 20th century ragtime, Maple Leaf Rag.

Join us at the Redfern Arts Center’s Alumni Recital Hall at 7:30 on April 11th for this rich musical world tour! Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, $10 for adults. Contact the box office at (603) 358-2168.
