KSC students play flute in the Concert Band.

The Keene State College Concert Band celebrates the great American composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Main Theatre in the Redfern Arts Center at 7:30pm. As a composer, conductor, educator, and humanitarian, Bernstein is regarded as a singular figure in American cultural history. Bernstein created music that has echoed through generations; his contributions to the orchestral, choral, opera, dance, and chamber music repertoire have been championed by performers from around the globe. The arrangements of the Cuban influenced Danzon from the ballet Fancy Free and an homage to the conductor/cellist Mstislav Rostropovich (Slava to his friends) on the program have solidified their places in the wind band repertoire.

The featured guest ensemble, The Post Road Brass Quintet, will join the KSC Concert Band to perform Bernstein’s Suite from Mass and the world premiere of Journal of Occurrences by Robert J. Bradshaw.

Tickets are $5 for students and senior, $10 for adults. Please contact the Box Office at boxoffice@keene.edu or (603)-358-2168.
