The Art of Storytelling

Keene State College faculty Fred Sienkiewicz, trumpet, and guest artist Thomas Weaver, piano, will present a recital exploring the aspects of story and storytelling in music on Sunday, January 27th at 3:00 PM at the Redfern Arts Center. The concert will include dramatic and brilliant concerti by Alessandro Marcello and Henri Tomasi, Bohuslav Martinu's witty “Sonatina”, “Paths”, an ethereal work for trumpet alone by Toru Takamitsu, and Edvard Grieg's mystical and heartfelt song cycle “Haugtussa”.
Recently appointed to the faculties of both Keene State College and Plymouth State University, Boston-based freelance trumpeter Fred Sienkiewicz enjoys a varied career performing solo, chamber, and orchestral music throughout New England. He has performed with the Nashua Symphony, Vermont Symphony, Cape Cod Symphony, North Country Chamber Players, Bala Brass, Majestic Brass, and Epic Brass. Mr. Sienkiewicz has also given recital performances at King's Chapel in Boston, Philips Recital Hall at Gordon College, and St. John the Evangelist in Hingham, MA, and has appeared as a guest soloist with the Gordon College Wind Ensemble and the Parkway Concert Orchestra.
