Inspiring the Next Generation
Professor Margaret "Peggy" Walsh will be speaking on Doris "Granny D" Haddock’s early education and life experiences which powerfully shaped her later political activism. While walking (and working) across the country Granny D encouraged other people to be informed and to vote. She also empowered younger activists by creating an accepting and supportive community. Archival material shows the value of respectful conversations across generations.
About the Granny D Lecture: Granny D had important connections with all of the Monadnock region’s educational institutions. It is fitting that the Granny D Lecture is a joint project of five partners (KSC, KPL, KHS Library, AUNE, & FPU) who engage in curriculum and events of social justice and community concern.
The Doris “Granny D” Haddock Collection is housed in the Mason Library at Keene State College and is open to all for research.
