Cigars, the Castros and Classic Cars:Cigars, the Castros and Classic Cars:How COPLACuba Debunked the Myths

Alumni Center - Centennial Hall
Tuesday, · -

How limited have U.S. perceptions of Cuba become, how sadly locked in time? The Provost’s Office invites you to join Dr. Jo Beth Mullens, Professor of Geography, and Dr. Lisa DiGiovanni, Assistant Professor of Modern Languages, for observations and conversations from their recent involvement in the COPLACuba program. Serving as the Keene State College representatives, Lisa and Jo Beth traveled to Cuba in December with twenty-one faculty members from other COPLAC institutions.

The purpose of this unique program, which they will share during this presentation, was to interact with Cuban scholars and thus experience, firsthand, this neighboring nation in transition. They will be joined by Dr. Skye Stephenson, Director of the Global Education Office, who will offer a historic context on role of study away in U.S.-Cuba relations as well as provide information on current opportunities for further explorations and engagement with Cuba.
