Redfern Arts Center
Tuesday, · -
Jose Lezcano will be the featured faculty artist on Oct. 13.

The Keene State College Music Department presents "Celebrating Music of the Americas", featuring José Lezcano (guitar), with faculty colleagues Christopher Swist (percussion), Marcia Lehninger (violin), Virginia Eskin (piano), and guest artist Rebecca Hartke (cello). The program will include music by Lou Harrison, Radames Gnattali, and José Lezcano, and the world premiere of Christopher Swist’s “… Meditation …” for guitar and percussion. The music explores the diversity of music in the Americas, featuring stylistic influences of Venezuelan mestizo dances, Brazilian choros, Cuban son, Argentine tango, among others, within the framework of European classical traditions brought to the continents by colonial powers in the centuries following Columbus.
