On the surface, The Shape of Things is about a budding relationship between two college students, but the drama tackles much deeper topics.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS by Neil Labute directed by PeggyRae Johnson

Ostensibly about love and art, The Shape of Things subtly tackles much deeper topics, including but not limited to social manipulation, passive-aggressive behavior, and personal identity and values. Set in a college community, the four characters in the play share a friendly, supportive relationship – until one of them is forced to make some difficult choices. With the bewildering list of rules of acceptance that young people must negotiate today, in person and in social media, how do they determine their own path?
