Lecture: "The Indigenous Music of New Zealand"
Dr. Leese is an international scholar whose expertise in solo vocal, opera, and choral realms is in high demand. His innovative teaching techniques as a conductor, performer, and music historian will enrich our students’ degree program experiences along with offering a unique perspective to the campus and surrounding communities. His pedagogy is rooted in both research and experience in New Zealand and the United States. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the information and first-hand interactions with indigenous music of New Zealand will offer our students a window into a culture not typically explored in the ISP curriculum. In addition, this lecture series will serve as a professional development opportunity for music faculty, which will continue to inform new teaching practices and strategies for semesters following the residency.
