Opera Workshop
KSC Opera Workshop, founded by Dr. Carroll J. Lehman in 1979, will present a number of opera scenes on Friday, May 3rd at 7:30pm in the Alumni Recital Hall. Pianists Cheryl Sharrock and Scott White will accompany the singers.
The Opera Workshop has performed various short operas including Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, Amahl and the Night Visitors and Weill’s Three Penny Opera. It has presented many scenes from operas including, Carmen, The Beggar’s Opera, Hansel and Gretel, Die Fledermaus and Fidelio. Alumni of the Workshop have gone on to study and perform operas at some the finest graduate schools in the country, among them; Julliard, Boston and New England Conservatories, Florida State University, University of Arizona and University of Missouri, Kansas City.
The scenes to be presented on May 3rd are from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado, Mozart’s Magic Flute, Cosi fan tutte and Don Giovanni. The program also includes duets from The Marriage of Figaro and Lakme. Students performing are Freshmen: Kevin Lackie and Amanda Williams, Sophomores: Emily DeAngelis, Samantha McCloghry, Nicholas Tocci, Lauren Weiner, Juniors: Kirk Bobkowski, Hannah Hall, Amy St. Louis and Senior Cady Lavoie.
