Mission Statement

The KSC Orang Asli Archive is a repository for unpublished documents, films, tapes and other recordings relevant to Orang Asli peoples and cultures. The Orang Asli are the indigenous peoples of Peninsular Malaysia and comprise about 17 to 20 different groups. The Archive aims to facilitate research in Orang Asli studies by preserving documentary materials and making them available to researchers. Published materials relevant to the Orang Asli will also be collected in order to facilitate research on premises. The Archive intends to make as much of its holdings as possible available through digital technology and a Web page. It is also dedicated to having students involved and participating in the work and research of the Archive. Finally, the Archive will have an ongoing sharing relationship with the Center for Orang Asli Concerns in Malaysia.
