Access and Use of Collection

Contract of Use

Registration Procedures
The Orang Asli Archive is open to the public--to students, faculty, visiting researchers and members of the community. The materials held by the archive are non-circulating and for research use only. First-time researchers should contact Bob Madden. Upon arrival at the archive, be prepared to fill out a registration card and present photo identification.

Guidelines for Use of Materials
In order to protect and preserve the rare and fragile books and documents under our care, we ask researchers to abide by the following guidelines:

Materials from the collections are to be used only in the Reading Room.

No materials from the collections will be issued to anyone who cannot present valid photo identification and who does not complete a registration card.

Pencils only may be used in the Reading Room; pens may not be used.

Laptop computers may be used in the Reading Room; electrical outlets are available.

No tobacco, food or beverages are allowed in the Reading Room.

Bookbags, backpacks, purses, briefcases, coats, newspapers, umbrellas, etc. must be left with the attendant.

All books, manuscripts, and other materials from the collections must be handled with special care.

Manuscript items are issued one box, or in some cases, one folder at a time.

All materials must be returned to the supervision desk when a researcher leaves the Reading Room. Researchers wishing to use the same materials again within two weeks may ask to have them placed on hold.

Users of the collections are expected to abide by all stated copyright regulations. Photocopying is done by library staff at the discretion of the reference librarian. Request forms are available at the supervision desk.

Publication and/or broadcast in any form (including electronic) requires written permission from the Keene State College Orang Asli Archive [and payment of applicable fees.] For reproduction requests and permissions, please contact us.

For purposes of your own private study, scholarship, and research, you may reproduce (print out, photocopy or download) materials from this archive without prior permission. If you are citing materials, please give proper attribution of the source. (See below for appropriate form of attribution.)

Reproductions of materials in this archive may not be made for or donated to other repositories or individuals, nor may they be further reproduced without written permission from the Keene State College Orang Asli Archive.

    United States Copyright Law:
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
