Rosemary Gianno (1956-)

Biography:
Rosemary Gianno is currently a Professor of Anthropology at Keene State College.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from City University of New York,
Queens College and a Masters of Philosophy and a Ph.D at Yale University in
1985. Professor Gianno has spent a total of over four years in Malaysia on
several different trips and did her original fieldwork in Tasek Bera,
Malaysia among the Semelai studying their adaptation to the forest
environment. Along with Adela Baer she has been instrumental in helping to
found the Orang Asli Archive at Keene State College and has been actively
involved in its growth.
Scope and Content Note:
The current holdings represent only a small portion of Rosemary Gianno’s
professional papers. The rest of the papers are in active use and remain
with Professor Gianno. The undated article on
Peter Williams-Hunt (series 1, folder 5) provides background information
that relates to the prints of his aerial photographs (series 2).
Also included is an interview with John Davie from July 2001 (Series 3). The published maps, ranging in date
from 1909 through 1990, are from her personal collection.
