Biographical Sketch:
Jane Breskin Zalben was born in New York City and attended the High
School of Music and Art there. After receiving a BA in art from
Queens College she went on to study lithography at the Pratt Graphics
Center. An acclaimed author of children's books, Zalben has
published over 25 books for youthful audiences.
Scope and Content Note:
Consisting of manuscripts and correspondence, the papers document
Jane Breskin Zalben's work in writing Unfinished Dreams along with
the editorial work involved in bringing the book to publication. The
collection also documents Zalben's contributions to the design of
Unfinished Dreams (Subseries A, folder 4). Outgoing correspondence
in 1994 is to an editor (Subseries B, folder 1) while incoming
correspondence in 1994 is from an associate (Subseries B, folder 2).
Incoming correspondence in 1997 is from David White acknowledging
receipt of the collection (subseries B, folder 3). An illustration
by Jane Breskin Zalben, Beni's First Chanukah, is part of the
Festival Gallery Collection at Keene State College.
