Biographical Sketch:
David M. McPhail attended George Vesper University (1957-1958) and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (1963-1966). He later began writing and illustrating children's books. He has written and illustrated over fifty books including the "Edward", "Pig Pig" and "Henry Bear" series and has illustrated many books for other authors, winning countless awards for his work.

Scope and Content Note:
The collection documents David McPhail's sketches for characters and scenes that appeared in his children's book, Bumper Tubbs.
