Biographical Sketch:
Marguerite W. Davol, a children’s book author and storyteller, attended college in Colorado, and lived in Kansas and Rochester, NY before settling in South Hadley, Massachusetts where she taught school and raised a family. She has had nine children’s books published, is a presenter at conferences, and often visits schools as an Author/Storyteller. Generally, her books are inspired by myths and are developed from tales that she has told to children.

Scope and Content Note:
The papers document the authorship, by children’s author and storyteller Marguerite W. Davol, of Batwings and the Curtain of the Night. The collection includes the manuscript revisions of the book and associated book reviews, correspondence and artwork. The seventh and eighth drafts of the manuscript (Subseries A, folders 7 and 8) include associated correspondence. The editor’s correspondence (Subseries C, folder 1) is made up of letters where Virginia (“Ginger”) Knowlton of Curtis Brown Ltd. kept Marguerite W. Davol informed of progress in the search for a publisher. Sketches of the artwork for the book, mentioned in the 1995 correspondence (Subseries C, folder 2), are stored separately (Subseries D, folder 1). The 1997 correspondence (Subseries C, folder 3) relates to the donation of the collection to Keene State College.
