Biographical Sketch:
Susan Cooper is the author of a number of books for young children
including Jethro and the Jumbie, The Silver Cow, The Selkie Girl
and Tam Lin. Well known as the author of the young adult fantasy
series The Dark is Rising, Cooper received the Newbery award for her
novel The Grey King from that series.
Scope and Content Note:
The papers document Susan Cooper's authorship of Matthew's Dragon
and include the original manuscript and associated proofs, galleys
and correspondence and an inscribed copy of the book. The
illustrator of Matthew's Dragon was Joseph A. Smith. Susan Cooper was
a presenter at the Children's Literature Festival at Keene State
College.
