1924

Our sympathy goes to the family of Helen Kimball Houston, who passed away in February. In her last Christmas letter, Helen described her trip to the top of Cannon Mountain for her grandson's wedding. To be ready for 20-degree temperatures, Helen was dressed in fleece pants, her daughter's boots, mittens, hat, and scarf. Sue had loaned her a parka. Four strong young men carried her in her wheelchair from where the tramway stopped to the observation tower through three-to-four-foot snowdrifts. Helen enjoyed the beautiful winter scenery, as well as the wedding.

Catherine Moore keeps busy with church activities. She also has time to do handwork and work in her flower garden. She gave up driving last summer and sold her car. She spent Thanksgiving holidays in North Carolina with friends.

Catherine Moore taught grade five and six for many years in Winsted, Conn. One year, there were 44 students enrolled in her classroom. The main problem she had was three boys who were six feet tall, but she managed. Besides supervising the playground and the lunch period, going to PTA, and attending numerous other meetings, she had to be there 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after school. Catherine retired to Hancock, N.H., where she remains active.

IN MEMORIAM: Helen Kimball Houston '24 died Feb. 2, 2004, in Boscawen, N.H. She taught in Whitefield, N.H., and Belmont, Mass. Since 1996, she was the holder of the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of Boscawen.

1926

Mildred Curtis Byrne sent a lovely holiday card and letter. She enjoys the Golden Circle letters and cards she receives. Mildred is fortunate to have her daughter and grandchildren to do errands for her. She has 14 great-grandchildren

IN MEMORIAM: Vera K. McDonough '26 died Jan. 27, 2004, in Concord, N.H. She lived in East Manchester, N.H., most of her life and taught at Parker and Varney schools for 40 years.

IN MEMORIAM: Hazel Beard Miller '26 passed away Jan. 3, 2004, in Keene, N.H. She graduated from UNH in 1927 and taught in Exeter, Bennington, and Keene high schools.

Margaret Grover Colburn is looking forward to joining other KSC alums at the luncheon at the Cat 'n' Fiddle in Concord, N.H.

Stella Redal Randoy writes from Edmonds, Wash., that her family gave her a wonderful 95th birthday. All of her grandchildren and her 17 great-grandchildren helped her celebrate. Stella feels blessed to have such a caring family.

IN MEMORIAM: Julia Pushee Runnells '28 died in Boscawen, N.H. She taught in Enfield, Lyme, Boscawen, N.H., and Marblehead, Mass

1929

Beautiful holiday cards were received from Kathleen Davison Jackson of Laconia, Evelyn Warren Bailey of Wayland, Mass., and Muriel Aldrich Lane of Hanover, N.H. Muriel would like to attend another Golden Circle luncheon and wants to be remembered to Harriet Richardson Ames '31.

Evelyn was a faithful correspondent with Norma Wright Walker '51. She enjoyed the Golden Circle letters and cards. Our sympathy goes to her family upon her death in March.

Viola Davis Horton sent Phyllis Paire Martin's address. These two classmates have kept in touch but haven't seen each other in all these years. Viola got out her '29 Keene Kronicle to refresh her memory of classmates. She remembers Evelyn Bailey as a "fun" friend. She also recognized Anne Eaton Doolan. Viola lives in Crescent City, Fla., near her daughter.

IN MEMORIAM: Evelyn Warren Bailey '29 passed away Mar. 2, 2004, in Wayland, Mass. She lived in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Florida, and West Virginia before moving in with her daughter in Wayland.
