Pamela Jo Shaw Castelot writes: "I have been married to David Castelot for 24 years. We have a 10-year-old daughter, Emily. We lived in Keene for 15 years, working at Ramada Inn, Maine Fidelity Life, and Kingsbury, mainly. We were transferred with David's company and moved to Derry, N.H., in 1996. I worked at Easter Seals in human resources for about eight years. In June 2004 we moved and bought George's Seafood and BBQ Restaurant in Plymouth, N.H."

IN MEMORIAM: Keith V. King Jr. '80 died Dec. 1, 2005, in Alton Bay, N.H. He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 2000. Survivors include his father, Keith V. King Sr. , physical education professor and director of the LIVE program at KSC for many years.

Nancy Euphemia Fowler of Barre, Vt., was selected as Vermont's "Mother of the Year" by Vermont Mothers Inc., the organization responsible for the annual honor. Nancy, a mother of three, was nominated by the folks at Barre Congregational Church where she plays bells in the bell choir and, for the past four years, has worked as director of Christian education and the youth group. After graduation from KSC, Nancy taught fifth grade at Twinfield Elementary School in Vermont until meeting her husband, Edward. The couple has been married for 17 years and has three daughters, Lauren, Felicia, and Kristen. A photography buff, Nancy enjoys reading, running, and spending time at the family's summer cabin on Martin's Pond in Peacham. She represented her state at the National Mother of the Year convention in Bismarck, N.D., in April.

Joanne Little was inducted into the Nanuet High School Sports Hall of Fame for her outstanding athletic achievements. While in high school, she earned 10 varsity letters in four sports - basketball, volleyball, softball, and track and field. At KSC, which she attended on an athletic scholarship, she played basketball for four years and softball for two. Now living in Niskayuna, N.Y., Joanne has been at Union College for the past 15 years, serving as coach of basketball, volleyball, and tennis, and currently as associate athletic director and senior women's administrator, as well as marketing coordinator for the department.

From Jacquie DeFreze: "Hello everyone! My New Year's goal was to write alumni 'scoop' for all the published KSC magazines this year, so get the computer keys tapping and let me know what is happening with you! Life is good here on the seacoast of New Hampshire. Joe and I are really happy. We tore down our old house about 5 years ago and rebuilt it. I am loving it. I am still teaching in Rye, N.H., and that is going great! My son Ryan will be 16 this month. He attends Portsmouth High School where Val 's husband, Mike, is the assistant principal as well as AD. What a small world to see Val at one of the football games. My other son, Zac, is 7. Life is good. Drop me a quick e-mail so we all can catch up! Donna Anderson? Julie Russell? Where the heck are you guys? Give me the scoop! I was thrilled to receive this note from Nina...she sounds great.

"From Nina Biornstad: 'Every time that I get a KSC alumni magazine in the mail, I tell myself that I'm going to write in and I never do, but now I'm finally going to do it! Let's see, how to fill everyone in on my life. Well, I'm married to a great guy, Bill McGinty. I kept my maiden name. I thought it would make things easier - what was I thinking? We live in Rye, N.Y. (about one hour from New York City), have three great kids, Luke, 9, Lilly, 7, and Mia, 3. I work full time for MasterCard International, so I'm one of the crazy working moms who is always running around as I travel quite a bit for work. I still keep in touch with a few alumni. Tracy Fidler and I are always in touch - I'm actually the godmother of her daughter Morgan. It is scary to think that we've been out of school this long, but when we do speak it's as though we never left. Mary McCloskey and I are also very close (she lives about 20 minutes away) and we summer together out on Long Island. She has three kids - Ian, Kaia and Lara. Her kids and our kids are very close which is very special to Mary and me. I always threaten to tell her kids what their mom was like in College. I also stay in touch with Annette Orlando who, after living in Europe for a while, is now back in the states with her husband and daughter. Annette is doing great and is an elementary school teacher in New City, N.Y. I started coaching my daughter's soccer team two years ago, which is great. It always brings back great memories of Keene and playing soccer. Miss everybody!'"

Bill Poulin is head of product strategy and development at Columbia Management, the primary investment management arm of Bank of America. He is based in Boston and worked previously for Fidelity Investments, where he was vice president for investment product management and development. Previously, he was executive vice president and director of marketing for LifeHarbor, Inc., Cambridge, Mass. Bill received his MBA in international/ corporate finance from Fordham University Graduate School of Business.

Jody Barstein Dietz of Orange, Conn., writes: "My husband, Jeff, and I have plans to open a batting cage and baseball/softball training facility in East Haven in January 2006."

Patrick Malfait of Concord, N.H., is owner of Contoocook River Canoe Company, specializing in the sale and rental of kayaks and canoes, instruction, guided trips, and a kids kayak adventure camp.

Arthur Tracy Coogan is serving with the U.S. Navy in Italy. He and his wife, Cristina, have a daughter, Alessandra. He says, "Give me a call if you are in Italy. My phone is 011 39 081 568 4554."

Michael Trabucco writes: "Well, I've been telling myself I'd send something in to Keene State Today for about...10, 15 years now. I guess it's about time. And now the big 20th reunion is coming up, and I cannot wait! It would be so great if a lot of people showed up. Someone wrote in a while ago, saying how amazed they were at how much time had gone by. I think I started feeling extra nostalgic when I hit 40, back in September 2004. (Or maybe it was right after the surprise double bypass in December 2003.) Anyway, early in 2005, I had dinner with Bob Lofquist (a fellow RA from Fiske Hall, 1983-84), and we had such a great time thinking about everyone in that dorm. So many memories... And we laughed so hard thinking about so many people - Cheryl Superson, Debbie MacPhee, Joy Testa, Martha Malone, Kara Black (maiden names, I know), Steve Doughty, Rick Larson, Mark Temple, Paul Lloyd, Ron, Darrin, Frank, Chuck, Emo, Geoff, Donna, Nina, Suzi, Regina... (That's just a few. We thought of tons of people, I swear it.) I wish there were a way that these people could know that they're being thought of.

"While I think of it - Michelle Lawless, Paul Besaw, and Ed (Buffy) Greene, are you out there? I have been in touch with some KSC folk. Kerry Marcella Sevigny is doing great - living in Indiana with her husband, Brian, and their two beautiful children. Holly Hansen is still my best friend - and now that I've sent her Murder, She Wrote on DVD, I can call her whenever I want! I've also been in touch (though minimally) with Curt Herr and Richard Stockwell, Kate Caron, Mary Wilder Wichland, Jill Weiner Kaplan, Scott Farnsworth, Paula Mercier... and I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch.

"As for me, I've been working at McLean Hospital (home of Girl, Interrupted, though believe me, it's not like that) as an expressive therapist for almost seven years. And I still do a lot of theater. (I was even nominated for a Best Actor award, which was pretty exciting. Would've been more exciting to win...) I live in Cambridge and I keep threatening to have a KSC get-together for people in the area. So if you're in the area, push me to do it. You can reach me at mptrabucco@hotmail.com. From Margaret Kavanagh-Beauchamp: "I am married with four children, RC is 16, Ethan is 13, Marcus is 10, and Maggie is 14 months. I am a special education coordinator for the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District. I have been trying to get in touch with Terry Bush and would love to know what John Decker '87 is up to!"

From Michelle Morris Ayer: "I heard from Cindy Knight a few weeks ago and she had the following happy news to share. It was so great to hear from Cindy and to hear how the rest of the Keene crew is doing. Drop me a line anytime and let me know what's going on with you!

"Cindy writes: 'On October 9 (just a week before my 40th birthday) I married Brian Maser in Santa Monica, Calif. Lucky for me my entire Keene crew and their spouses made it to LA for a weekend of eating, drinking, and sunshine. Sue Miller Haversat and Kathy O'Neill Malloy agreed to be bridesmaids, while Mike McCarthy and his wife, Kathy Coons Towler, Chris Towler, Ray Haversat, Bob Mallat and his wife, Jeff Dragon, and Andy Shaw all attended as guests. It was so great to have them all here! Brian and I honeymooned in South America and will continue living in Marina del Rey, Calif.'"

Michelle Lowe is a regional account manager for Tech Ed Concepts, Inc., in Concord, N.H., managing quality customer support at educational institutions throughout New England. Michelle worked previously for 18 years in sales and customer support at PC Connection, Inc. She lives in Peterborough, N.H., with her two children.

This fall, Cathy Liggett was the recipient of the Pillar Award at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J. The award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the quality of the institution. Cathy, head athletic trainer since 1998, said, "I enjoy working behind the scenes, so it was a little embarrassing to hear people speak of my accomplishments. I was very proud to be recognized for my contribution to the school." Originally from Madison, N.J., she followed brother Bill '84 and sister Anne '86 to Keene State. "My folks thought it was easier to drop all three of us off at one place," Kathy said. She credits KSC for preparing her well for a career in athletic training. "It was a great experience," she said. "They taught you how to think on your feet, problem solve, and multi-task. Dr. B (Sherry Bovinet) could scare you at times, but you came away ready to enter the field."

Kevin Hooper writes: "My wife, Teri, and I and our three children made the big jump from Quincy, Mass., to Cary, N.C., just outside Raleigh, last August. The whole process of moving was expedited so that we could get the kids into school on time. This is their first time in a public school because they have been home schooled throughout their education so far. Some will ask why we moved and the strongest reason is quality of life for our children and ourselves. We were getting very tired of living in the city and wanted something better for our kids. We also investigated the schools down here in Cary and they are ranked in the top 10 in the country (hint to all my teacher friends from KSC). I was able to convince my employer to allow me to transfer my sales position down here. I am now working out of my home office. With the gas prices continually going up, it was the greatest decision I ever made. It is a real tough commute, having to walk down the hallway from my bedroom. Or, if I get really ambitious, I will take my wireless laptop over to the local coffeehouse. Hope all is well with everyone."

From Jeffey LaValley: "As of this writing, I decided to leave my position as major gifts officer for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. You may recall from previous Class Notes that I started at the Task Force in July 2005, after nearly 14 months as associate director of development at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. It was my original thought that moving from academe to a grassroots political organization would be a welcome change; however, it became increasingly apparent (and mutually agreed to) that despite my best efforts my appointment was not a good fit for the organization.

"I always tend to look for silver linings in clouds, and I have many things I can take away from this experience: a greater awareness for the importance of grassroots organizing, an even greater passion for creating change in our world, and a commitment to total equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans.

"Hopefully, by the time this issue of Keene State Today lands in your mailbox, I will have successfully completed yet another job search, and will not have endured too many months of collecting unemployment. Fingers crossed!

"As for classmates and friends, here's the latest: Lynn A. Dupont has been working in the insurance industry since graduating. She started with Cigna Healthcare, where she remained for 15 years before being downsized. From there Lynn worked for Liberty Mutual for a little over a year, commuting 66 miles each way from Hooksett, N.H. Lynn e-mailed in September to say she had been working for the past five months at Anthem BCBS in Manchester as a senior underwriter. She says, 'It's what I know best (what I did at Cigna) and I'm happy to be working with old colleagues much closer to home.' Having tired of waiting for Mr. Right Lynn built a house for herself in Hooksett more than seven years ago...and is still waiting for Mr. Right. Lynn still enjoys the beach, and finds herself there most weekends in the summer. 'I've adjusted to Hooksett and I get together with Kim Sweeney Samson, Kristin Winglosky Merrick, and Karen Latouche Fortier periodically.'
