Irene McNamara Freeman turned 99 on March 26, 2002. She attended the first Golden Circle Luncheon held at the Indian Shutters in Charlestown, N.H., back in 1997. Always nice to hear from Irene. 1925 Helen Bronson Preble is a KNS friend of Cassie Haven Sweet '24. She was delighted to receive the Golden Circle medallion. Her daughter-in-law took a photo of Helen wearing it for the Golden Circle photo album. Helen still does some knitting and writes a beautiful letter, even though she says her eyesight is failing at the age of 98. Do keep those letters coming, Helen, because we always enjoy reading them. IN MEMORIAM: Eleanor Collier Eaby '25 passed away May 10, 2002, two days before her 98th birthday. She died at the home of her daughter in East Orleans, Mass., where she had lived for the past seven years 1927
Margaret Grover Colburn walks every day the weather permits. She misses the big garden that she and her husband used to have, but she still raises a few tomato plants and has a flower garden. Margaret was surprised to receive the Golden Circle medallion in the mail. She can't believe that 75 years have flown by so quickly. Margaret sent a lovely photo of herself wearing the medallion. Thank you, Margaret, for the photo, which will go into the Alumni Album. 1928 Elizabeth Welch had just finished her lunch after a late ride from church when Norma Walker arrived for a visit. Miss Elizabeth is always cheerful and has wonderful stories to share with Norma, seeing they were neighbors (four miles apart) in Hancock. She was a substitute teacher in her hometown, so often Norma was her student. 1929 Evelyn Warren Bailey enjoyed the Keene State Today issue that had the map of the campus on the cover. She can't believe how the College has grown since she was a student. Evelyn said she felt like an Olympian when she received her Golden Circle medallion. She wishes she lived closer so she could attend the luncheons that are held. Evelyn likes to knit and do a little crocheting, but needlepoint is her favorite. She also does a daily crossword puzzle to keep her mind active.
