David Gagne '73
President of the KSC Alumni Association

Photo: David Gagne setting sap buckets It is with mixed emotions that we say good-bye and thank you to Dr. Y for his wonderful tenure at Keene State College. We wish him and his wife, Mary-Lou, all the best in their well-deserved retirement. I am sure we will see them at future alumni events. At the same time we welcome Dr. Helen Giles-Gee as our new president and look forward to her stewardship of our college. The Alumni Association Board of Directors will do everything it can to make her time as president successful.

As I assume the position of president of the Alumni Association, I step into the shoes of many great past KSC Alumni Association presidents. I will strive to do my best in this role over the next year. We have some exciting and challenging times ahead of us. A few of the goals your Association and I have set for the upcoming year are to:

  • help Dr. Giles-Gee with a smooth transition into her new role as head of the College
  • establish new, solid connections to the current and future students of KSC
  • make it easy for alumni to volunteer to help in both program roles and as resources for your Association and the College
  • provide quicker, more dynamic, and less expensive communication between the College and alumni through better use of the Internet
  • create a "speakers bureau" of alumni who can act as a resource for students and faculty as needed
  • develop a strategic plan for the Alumni Association
  • work closely with the College to raise the funds needed to build a brand-new building to house our organization and to be your home in Keene
  • determine what we can do to help celebrate Keene State's Centennial in 2009.
These are but a few of the things I hope we can get a good jump on in 2005-06.

If you have thoughts on these or other issues, if you want to volunteer your time to work on a committee, a program, or a particular event or project, or if you would like to serve on our board, I can be reached at dlgagne@aol.com. We can fit a volunteer opportunity with the time that you have available. Join us in serving our alma mater and our fellow alumni. See you around campus.

Best regards,

David Gagne '73
