Dear Friends,
As I reflect on my eight plus years as the director of advancement, I am grateful for this continuing opportunity to serve Keene State College. These years have been very exciting for the College and its alumni. Our academic programs are strong. The campus is beautiful. Our enrollments are at an all-time high. And we continue to hire extremely talented faculty and staff.

Our present and future are tied to our capacity to raise significant funds from individuals, corporations, and foundations. In spite of the shock of terrorism, the economic slowdown, and an unstable stock market, you never lost faith in our ability to strengthen the campus and provide quality education for our students. Thanks to your generosity, I am pleased to announce that once again our efforts to garner contributions have met with success, resulting in an increase of 25.4 percent from the previous year, and, for the first time, reaching and exceeding the million-dollar mark at $1,115,000.

The winter issue of Keene State Today is fondly referred to in-house as "the Honor Roll issue." We look forward to presenting this annual feature as a public expression of our gratitude to all of you who made contributions to the College for the previous fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). Without your contributions we would not have many of the fine programs or physical plant enhancements that make Keene State strong and special. The Owl Soccer Stadium is outstanding – a first-class facility that is an asset for the College and the community. Our alumni programs and special events such as Homecoming and Reunion are thriving, with many new initiatives under way. Scholarship support, a hallmark of our annual fundraising efforts, fills a much-needed financial gap and makes a tremendous difference for the recipients. Let me share with you just a few of the responses we have received from recent scholarship recipients:

"Thank you for awarding me this scholarship. My family and I are very appreciative and honored. It is nice to know that dedication and hard work pay off, so I thank you for recognizing my financial needs as well as my accomplishments."

"It is a blessing that there are people in the world like those at KSC who are willing to help a motivated, young woman like myself to succeed."

"Thank you so much for hearing my plea. Since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of going to college, and, because of you, I can attend another year."

"I am thrilled to see my hard work recognized. I will continue working just as hard, and I assure you that this money will be well spent."

"I believe teaching children is a very important job – as the children are our future. Your scholarship will help this dream of becoming a teacher a reality for me."

"You have definitely touched another person's life. I will never forget what you have done for me. I will continue to strive to do my very best in my field of studies and demonstrate that I am deserving of the confidence and support that you have shown in me by this award. Hopefully, someday I will be in a position where I can help a student as you have helped me."

As you review this Honor Roll issue, I am sure you will share my deep sense of pride in Keene State. Your generosity makes a difference. Thank you for your continuing commitment to make Keene State an exemplary college.
