Keep Security Conscious when Surfing the web, Accessing data, File sharing, Emailing The IT Group developed the Information Technology Security Program as a guide for building and maintaining a safe, secure, accessible, reliable, sustainable, and effective IT infrastructure to assist the College in its mission. ITG will develop this program through policies and procedures, hardware and software components, user awareness, and education and training. Our goals include maintaining the privacy of network users, confidentiality of sensitive information, and security of the personal information and intellectual property contained within the IT infrastructure.
Faculty and staff share responsibility with the IT Group when it comes to the security of the campus network. Most of us, in some respect, have access to and control over the personal information of students, faculty, and/or staff members. All faculty and staff should have a general knowledge of the College's password policies and the Computer and Network Use Agreement; knowledge of local, state, and federal laws concerning copyright and other digital information based topics; and general knowledge about how to use the Internet and everything it offers in a responsible manner. This knowledge should, when possible, be passed on to students who may not necessarily search out such information on their own. |
