Web Development is a service offered to all KSC faculty members who would like to create a professional or departmental presence on the web. We can work with you to develop a plan for your site including the design, layout, navigation structure, etc. In addition we can construct the structure of the site while you write the content. Using your choice of Macromedia Contribute or Dreamweaver you are able to easily and quickly create and publish content to your own directory on the KSC academic server (http://academics.keene.edu/). Working collaboratively with your Academic Technology Liaison you will find the process of creating a professional web presence has been made easy and can be done without having to know any HTML. In addition the Web Development service is offered to academic departments and for faculty wishing to publish academic projects.

Getting Started

• complete the account request form
• make an appointment with your Academic Technology Liaison (see above) to install: Macromedia Contribute or Dreamweaver
  *secure file transfer software
• work with your Academic Technology Liaison to plan your site
• begin writing content
• work with your Academic Technology Liaison to upload content to your site

If you would like your web site to be linked from the official Keene State web site, please e-mail your link to the KSC Webmaster.

If you would like your web site linked to the Academics Web Server home page, please e-mail the Web Hosting Administrator.

1. Web content will be backed up daily; however, you should *save a copy of your web pages on your workstation so that if a file is accidentally deleted, you can upload a copy from your computer. The tape backup will be used to restore web content in case of a catastrophic hardware failure. *Not necessary if you use Macromedia Contribute
   
   
2. Web pages will be deleted from the server one semester after a faculty member's employment contract ends.
   
   
3. If you opt for web-authoring software other then Macromedia Contribute you should develop your web site on your computer and then transfer the files to the web server using secure file transfer. This will protect your web site, username and password from unauthorized use. Please consult this list to download and install the Secure File Transfer software.
