Standard network printer models have been identified by the IT Group in order to ensure uniformity of office printers on campus, to limit the number of vendor's products, and to achieve timely support. The current standard for network printers shared by a department is a B&W laser printer with duplexing option and standard paper trays. Departments who require specialty printer features - i.e. wide format, color, multiple trays, letter feeder - must purchase those features with departmental funds. The standard network printer for large work groups is the HP P4015dn and the standard network printer for smaller work groups is the HP P3055dn. Large and small work groups are identified based on the number of pages printed and the specific features required to accomplish the department's function. The central IT budget supports the purchase and maintenance of network printers for all E&G funded administrative offices and academic departments ion a five-year cycle. Auxiliary, Fee supported and Grant funded departments are responsible for the purchase, maintenance and upgrade of approved network printers. The IT Group provides support for all approved network printers - this includes queue management, identifying hardware malfunctions, fixing paper jams, troubleshooting error messages and warranty management. Auxiliary, Fee supported and Grant funded network printers are also supported by the IT Group; however, all necessary replacement parts must be purchased by the department. Personal or locally attached laser printers may be purchased by the department and are not supported by the IT Group HelpDesk. Below are the current standard network printers for purchase on campus.
*Must be purchased with a 3-year Care Pack Warranty Contact the HelpDesk at x82532 for assistance in selecting color printers. |
