Before installing McAfee VirusScan 8.7, please uninstall any older versions of McAfee (8.5 or older) to ensure that you have a clean copy of VirusScan on your computer. You must also uninstall your anti-virus software if it is NOT KSC licnesed McAfee VirusScan because the software packages could conflict and cause problems on your computer. This includes other virus programs such as Norton, AVG, Panda, etc.

1. To download McAfee VirusScan 8.7, log into the VPN. Your login is your MyKSC email address - (i.e. jdoe@ksc.mailcruiser.com). Unless you have logged into the VPN previously, your default password will be your 6 digit date of birth (ex. mmddyy or 01/06/89).



2. Click on the McAfee VirusScan 8.7 download for Windows and then click Run.



3. If you see a warning that the Publisher could not be verified, click Run.



4. Left-click Next at the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Setup screen.



5. Select the Perpetual Licensing option at the Network Associates Licensing screen because Keene State College has a Perpetual License Agreement with Network Associates. Select the "I Accept..." option on the bottom of the screen in the same way. Click OK.



6. Select Typical setup in the Select Setup Type screen. Click Next.



7. Select the Standard Protection level and click Next.



8. You should see the Ready To Install screen next. Click the Install button.



9. Click Finish and then select the UPDATE NOW button to get the latest McAfee updates and virus definitions.



10. Click the FINISH button to complete the installation. If you have chosen to do an AutoUpdate cycle you will have to wait for the update to finish.

Some important things to note: Your software is pre-configured to automatically update the virus definitions on a daily basis when your computer is turned on and connected to the internet. If your computer is turned off when automatic updates are supposed to occur don't panic. When you turn your system on again your computer will wait 10 minutes and then run the missed task.
