Installation Instructions for ClamXav for Macintosh
Note: The ClamXav download is approximately 15mb in size. Dial-up users, please don't download the software from the web. When you arrive on campus, contact the HelpDesk at 358-2532 for assistance.
Print this page if you would like to follow the installation and configuration process.
- To download ClamXav, log into the VPN using your MyKSC email address. New students should use their date of birth as their default password (ex. mmddyy or 01/06/89).
- Click on the version of ClamXav that will work with your operating system to start the download.
- Double click on the ClamXav icon located on your desktop and you will see the following:

- As indicated, drag the ClamXav icon to your hard drive and then to the Applications folder and drop.
- Double click on the ClamXav icon in the installer and you will see a window like the one below - followed by a pop up informing you that you need to install the Clam Anti-Virus engine. Click the install button.


- You will see a series of installation windows, including one where you must agree or disagree with the licensing for the product. Click continue and then install

- When the software has been installed, double-click on the ClamXav icon and you will see this window:

- Click the Preferences button. On the General page, select Scan e-mail files.

- On the Internet page, under "when ClamXav is launched", select all the items:

- On the Schedule page, click the padlock to schedule downloads for one day a week:

- Close the preferences window and click the Update virus definitions button. When that has finished, you are all set.
