How to Create a Rule to Move Listserve Messages to a Subfolder

1. Open an e-mail received from the Listserv you would like to filter. Right-click on the e-mail address in the TO field and choose Add to Contacts.

2. Next create a subfolder where you want the messages to be delivered. In order to save space on the server, I have created my subfolder in Personal Folders. Go to View --> Folder List and right-click on the Personal Folders icon and choose New Folder. Name it and save it.

3. Now go to Tools --> Rules Wizard.

4. The first page should look like this. Make sure Apply this rule after the message arrives is in the Rule Description. Click Next.

5. Check sent to people or distribution list as your first condition. Click the underlined people or distribution list and it will open to the Address Book.

6. Go to Chose Names from the: and click the drop-down arrow. Scroll down and click on Contacts.

7. Scroll down and select the address you had saved in step #1. Click the TO button, click OK and Next.

8. Select move it to the specified folder. Then below click on the underlined specified and select the folder you would like to move messages to. Click Next.

9. If there are any exceptions to your rule, chose them now. Click Next.

10. Give the rule a name. Make sure Turn on this rule is checked and if you would like to run the rule, check Run this rule on messages already in my "Inbox". Then click Finish and your rule has been set.
