Network Access Request (Gaming Console)

In order to use a network device other than a computer, such as a gaming console, on the Keene State College residential computer network you need to request network access from the HelpDesk.

Students living in the residence halls who request network access for gaming consoles are allowed to connect ONE network device at a time. The means that students may have EITHER their computer OR their gaming console connected to the network AT ONE TIME, but NOT BOTH at the same time. Read the Policy for Connecting Network Devices to the KSC LAN from the Computer and Network Use Policy (CNUP) for more information about allowed network devices.

We will need the following information:

Full Name

Residence Hall

Room Number

Phone Number

Data Jack Number (located on the jack panel where you plug your computer into the wall)

Make and Model of Game Console

Mac Address of Game* Please separate each pair of numbers/letters with a colon (:).

IP Address of the Game The IP address will be displayed when you follow the directions below and should look like 158.65.XX.XX

Requests will be processed in 2 business days. Please try access after that time. The HelpDesk does NOT provide support for gaming consoles on campus. Access will be granted for the academic year (August through May 10, 2009). A request for summer access will be required.

*Here's how to find your Media Access Card (MAC) Address:

XBox:

  • Insert your Xbox Live DVD in the drive. The software will automatically run and update the Xbox dashboard to show the Xbox Live option. Once this is complete, eject the CD and make sure you have your network cable plugged in to your Xbox and in the network port in your room. Open the Xbox Live menu.
  • Go to the Network Setup menu.
  • In the lower right corner of the screen will be "MAC=" followed by a combination of 12 numbers and letters. Write this down as you will need this to complete the Manual Registration form.
To locate the MAC address of your Xbox 360 console:

  • Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings.
  • Select Edit Settings.
  • From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.
  • At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC Address. Enter this 12-digit sequence into his request form.

  • You can now press the select button which will display the MAC.
  • The 12-digit number is the MAC address of your PS2, write it down so that you can use it later.
Sony PS3

  • Once the PlayStation 3 operating system has loaded, select "Settings."
  • Once you are in "Settings" select "Network Settings."
  • When the "Network Settings" list appears, select the first option which is titled "Settings and Connection Status List."
  • The physical address will be listed under "MAC Address." IP Address is on the same page.
