Public Lab Monitor Lab Monitors oversee the Public Computer Labs. Your job is to answer questions and ensure that the Public Labs are well maintained and not misused. There is a monitor on duty in the Public Lab at all times. You will work closely with students answering questions on the use of the labs, the operation of the computers, and general questions about the facilities. Skills needed: outstanding customer service skills, ability to learn quickly, good problem solving skills, ability to work independently, and working knowledge of Windows OS and software. HelpDesk Support Technician Student Technicians work in support of the HelpDesk to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technology related issues called/mailed into the HelpDesk. Your job is to answer phones, log trouble tickets, and troubleshoot technology related issues over the phone and/or within faculty and staff offices as well as students dormitories. Student technicians also deliver and pick-up technology equipment needed for academic classes, presentations, and campus events as well as provide basic training on that equipment. Skills needed: A basic knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, software, and PC hardware, outstanding customer service skills, a calm phone presence, the ability to listen and communicate effectively, the ability to learn quickly, good problem solving skills, and a desire to work cooperatively with students and staff in a professional environment. Download and print a job application. Specialized Lab Support Technician As a specialized lab technician you will provide support for the operations of discipline specific computer labs. You will work closely with students, faculty and staff answering questions on the use of the labs, the operation of the computers and peripherals, and general questions about the facilities. The technical issues range form network connectivity to discipline specific hardware interface devices. Skills needed: outstanding customer service skills, ability to learn quickly, good problem solving skills, ability to work independently, and working knowledge of Windows OS and software. Media Event Support Technician As a Media Event technician you will provide set-up and assistance for campus events. Support includes campus sound systems, videotaping, duplication and limited editing of media materials. You will be trained and work closely with staff technicians, outside providers of sound systems, performers and event staff all over campus. As skills develop, these technicians have the opportunity to engineer sound for events on their own. This experience is valuable to Music, Theater and Film Students as well as anyone interested in sound and music Skills needed: outstanding customer service skills, ability to learn quickly, good problem solving skills, and ability to work independently. Basic understanding of electronics, P.A. systems, sound, video camera and media equipment operation is helpful along with a good ear for what's happening in the world of acoustics.
