Move the "My Documents" folder or other files onto the P drive (File Transfer) First, you must make sure that the contents of your "My Documents" folder will fit into your allotted 5 gigabyte (GB) of P drive space. If My Documents is over 5 GB you must move non-critical items into a temporary folder or delete the non-critical items before starting the file transfer.
Important: Close all applications when moving the My Documents folder to the file server. Depending on the size of the folder, the file transfer may take some time. We recommend that you start the file transfer before leaving for lunch, or when you won't need the computer. Working in other applications and conducting a file transfer at the same time will disrupt the transfer process. If the network becomes unavailable during the transfer process, contact the HelpDesk at x8-2532.
![]() ![]() Navigate to the document(s) you want to move to your P Drive, select them, and drag and drop them on the P Drive shortcut on your desktop. Or, when working with a file use the "Save As" function and select a folder on the P drive to save the file to. You will then be able to open the file from the P drive location and save it back to the same folder while you work. I want to put my Outlook Personal Folders on my P Drive.
